Announcing the 2014 Beantown Throwdown


I’m very excited to announce the 2014 Beantown Throwdown (our 3rd annual)! This year’s event will be on Sunday, September 21st. It’s an RX only competition for teams of 2 men, and 1 woman. Loading will be more or less classic CrossFit, and competence in gymnastics/bodyweight movements is recommended. Entry is $195 per team. All athletes will receive a t-shirt, with cash and prizes for the top teams, and a portion of every entry will be donated to PR for Pat. PR for Pat: This Saturday, August 2nd CrossFit Fenway will be hosting Pat’s WOD (no preregistration required), and heading to the Cask ‘n Flagon for a post workout fundraiser ($10 “cover” going directly to PR for Pat).  Our friend Pat has a long, tough road ahead of him, and needs our help.  You can read his story here.  Pat has already undergone surgery that has taken roughly 70% of his tongue, as well as lymph nodes and glands.  He will require therapy to learn to talk and swallow again, and he faces days upon days of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.  Pat has incredible determination, and with the help of so many that care about him from the CrossFit community here in Boston he will fight on.  Please donate here, mark your calendar for this Saturday, August 2nd and join us to PR for Pat.

    August 2012: 7 Rx
    September 2013: 8 Rx

    Those pull ups get really tough toward the end. Great work 5:30am. Hope to see a bunch of you tomorrow.

    Sept 2013: 4 + 13 (3 wall climbs for HSPUs; box leg-ups for pistols; blue band pullups)
    Aug 2014: 5:25 (pistols with heel plate; 10 DB presses; red band pullups)

    Hope tomorrow is a rocking success!

      I did this yesterday (11 even, you got me!) and ripped up both my hands too. Ouch.

    i love this one, so I’m bummed I had to modify!

    subbed 5 dumbbell press (20#), 10 weighted lunges (20#), and 5 strict pull ups: 12+5.

    great work, 5:30!

    Pull-ups really slow down in the later rounds. Fairly happy with my pistols.

    9/13/2013 = 7+23 w/ push up into a hand stand, ground to standing pistol, and green band.

    8/1/2014 = 7+1 w/ push up into a handstand, pistol on bench holding 25#, and purple + red band.

    Mary: 4 rounds even using two ab mats for strict hspu’s. Blue and red bands for pull-ups.
    This was a tough workout!
    Great job 5pm.
