Party for Pat


A little update on Saturday’s happenings for the fundraiser benefitting Pat Padgett. We will be hosting his WOD at 8am during the competitor’s class as well as at 10am as the Invasion workout. Shortly after that, around 11:30am, we will all be heading over to the back room at Cask ‘n Flagon (Oliver’s). We just ask for a $10 donation at the door. Feel free to bring friends and family for food and drinks. Cask ‘n Flagon has even generously donated some appetizers to the event. The Sox play the Yankees at 4:05pm so feel free to stick around for some pre or during game activities. We have invited some neighboring CrossFits (CF Somerville and CF Coolidge Corner) to join us so anyone and everyone is welcome. The more the merrier we would love to see a lot of support for Pat! PR for Pat: On Saturday, August 2nd CrossFit Fenway will be hosting Pat’s WOD, and heading to the Cask ‘n Flagon for a post workout fundraiser ($10 “cover” going directly to PR for Pat).  Our friend Pat has a long, tough road ahead of him, and needs our help.  You can read his story here.  Pat has already undergone surgery that has taken roughly 70% of his tongue, as well as lymph nodes and glands.  He will require therapy to learn to talk and swallow again, and he faces days upon days of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.  Pat has incredible determination, and with the help of so many that care about him from the CrossFit community here in Boston he will fight on.  Please donate here, mark your calendar for Saturday, August 2nd and join us to PR for Pat.

    wod: 17:58 Rx (although 3-4 of those dip were a little suspect) … ran over a bit. Maralene made me finish. I think I did 14 muscle ups in there. need to get better at ring dips.

    WOD: 6:15 with blue band on stable bars & 24 box. Next time I will use a red band.

    Split Jerk: 105#. Want to focus on bending that back leg.
    WOD: 9:32 with ring pushups and 30″ box.

    Inspired by watching Sam’s perseverance on the muscle-up ring dips! That image will carry me through the week until I get back to town.

    Strength: Hatch Squat Cycle Week 6 Day 1.
    WOD: 7:25 w/strict dips.

    I hope everyone can make it for some or all of the day on Saturday. Pat Padgett introduced me to Crossfit back in 2009. I used to work out at the gym where he was a personal trainer. Watching Pat absolutely crush WODs on a daily basis inspired me try it out, and I’ve never looked back. He’s been a member of the Crossfit community here in Boston for a very long time. A beast of a man, if there ever was someone prepared for a battle like this, it’s Pat. Even with his size and abilities, he needs our help, our donations, and our support. Hope to see you there!

      This was the first time in over three years of CrossFit that I got to do a WOD with you!

      SJ: 115, twice at 125!
      WOD: 6:52 with hand release push ups and a 20″ box.

    Doing the muscle-ups to get to the ring dips was definitely the limiting factor. I probably spent a good minute of my time getting that muscle up on each set.
