PR for Pat

You may not know Pat Padgett, but you’d probably recognize him as a familiar, friendly face if you saw him.  Pat is a part of CrossFit Fenway’s extended family.  He hasn’t coached or competed for CFF, but he’s been a part of our community basically since the beginning.  A Regional level competitor in his own right, Pat regularly stops by to train with our coaches.  Whether introducing us to new jams, or new, terrible workouts that we inevitably suffer through, and then figure out how to work into the class programming, Pat has had an impact on CrossFit Fenway.  Over the last several years I’ve come to know him as an honest, great guy, with an excellent sense of humor, and I definitely have a few PRs thanks to a little extra push from Pat.  Now, Pat needs our help.

I’m very proud of the fact that we host fundraiser workouts here at CrossFit Fenway.  It’s so good to use our fitness, and the strength of our community to give back.  On Saturday, August 2nd we’ll be be doing one that’s personally important to me and the other CFF coaches, Pat’s WOD.

Pat has a long, tough road ahead.  You can read his story here.  At this point he has already undergone surgery that has taken roughly 70% of his tongue, as well as lymph nodes and glands.  He will require therapy to learn to talk and swallow again, and he faces days upon days of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.  Pat has incredible determination, and with the help of so many that care about him from the CrossFit community here in Boston he will fight on.

    WOD – 6:48 Rx+ – deficit HSPU’s on two 45# plates under each hand (bit off a little too much on this one – shoulders were smoked from yesterday). Thanks to Shorty for encouraging me to scale up.

    had an awesome race with Whitney today. we were literally rep for rep, and then she pulled ahead and beat me right at then end by literally half a second.

    hey everyone,

    it would be great if we could get a bunch of support for pr for pat. pat is a good friend and training partner of mine. he’s a great guy and it would be great to get lots of people to donate or come out on August 2nd. It definitely means a lot to me to help him out, and I know it would mean a lot to him.
