Ringing in the Holiday Season with a Run

1463986_777541892272529_1051516426_nThis past Sunday a group of us from CrossFit Fenway that included Cal, Heather, Marina, Nora, Sean O, Tim P, and I crawled out of our food comas and onto the cold, wet streets surrounding Harvard Square for a holiday 5k.  Yulefest is a part of the Cambridge 5k Race Series, the same folks who put on the Sasquatch and Big Bad Wolf trail races, as well as other road races throughout the year, so there was plenty of post race beer from local breweries.  Unfortunately, unlike races past, we didn’t manage a sweet team pick, due to the aforementioned cold and wet, but we fared pretty well.  CFF ended up 7th out of 48 teams on the strength of Nora’s 2nd place finish in the women’s division (18:29), 17th overall.  Our other scorers were me (19:58) and Tim P (21:29), 45th and 120th respectively of 1,467 runners.  The series starts up again in May, and I’m looking forward to putting together solid teams for all of them.1422384_777542392272479_488241137_n

Help put together a care package from CFF!  On Saturday, December 14th, with Garo’s help, CrossFit Fenway is hosting an invasion WOD to put together care packages for 1SG Russ Watts, 2LT Michael Polanski, and 1LT Russell Cotter. All three are deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. We’d like to send a care package on behalf of CFF to show support and appreciation for their service. If you’re donating to the package, no preregistration is required, and the Saturday session can be an extra one for you that week!

    OHS: 90#
WOD: 5+1 with 30#, maybe could have gone heavier but glad I moved fast and did all TTBs unbroken

    OHS: 105#

WOD: 3+16 Rx (35#). Epic fails in the 2nd round with a severe lack of left arm DB snatches. I probably had 4 failed attempts for every 1 successful one. I have a sweet bruise now to show for it.

I enjoyed the race Sunday but boy am I far from the running shape I was once in. Time to get back into it!

115 on OHS working on form (Sam stop with the PEDs already!)
4 plus 8 on WOD RX
Toes to bar is one thing I seem to have figured out. Need more speed on box jumps.
