This past Sunday a group of us from CrossFit Fenway that included Cal, Heather, Marina, Nora, Sean O, Tim P, and I crawled out of our food comas and onto the cold, wet streets surrounding Harvard Square for a holiday 5k. Yulefest is a part of the Cambridge 5k Race Series, the same folks who put on the Sasquatch and Big Bad Wolf trail races, as well as other road races throughout the year, so there was plenty of post race beer from local breweries. Unfortunately, unlike races past, we didn’t manage a sweet team pick, due to the aforementioned cold and wet, but we fared pretty well. CFF ended up 7th out of 48 teams on the strength of Nora’s 2nd place finish in the women’s division (18:29), 17th overall. Our other scorers were me (19:58) and Tim P (21:29), 45th and 120th respectively of 1,467 runners. The series starts up again in May, and I’m looking forward to putting together solid teams for all of them.

Help put together a care package from CFF! On Saturday, December 14th, with Garo’s help, CrossFit Fenway is hosting an invasion WOD to put together care packages for 1SG Russ Watts, 2LT Michael Polanski, and 1LT Russell Cotter. All three are deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. We’d like to send a care package on behalf of CFF to show support and appreciation for their service. If you’re donating to the package, no preregistration is required, and the Saturday session can be an extra one for you that week!
