Sign Up for the Open

Sign up for the Open.  You’re probably going to do the workouts anyway.

In all seriousness, if you’ve ever even remotely considered competing in CrossFit the Open is a great way to give it a try, see what you’re capable of (I can almost guarantee you will positively surprise yourself at least once within the 5 weeks), and how you compare to CrossFitters all over the world.  You’ll have the opportunity to get a taste of a competition atmosphere with our weekly Saturday game day events.  We’ll also most likely have the workouts programmed each Friday, so that’s another chance to get ‘em done.  Like I said, you’re probably going to end up doing the workouts one way or another, so why not sign up?  The competition begins next week with the announcement of the first workout on Wednesday, March 6th.  Signing up in advance better allows us to plan and prepare.

If you truly have no desire whatsoever to compete this time around, but would like to get involved, we’re always looking for extra judges.  Please e-mail me if you’re interested, or have any questions about judging or competing.

Scotty Rum’s Karaoke Night Fundraiser… With a Twist!  On March 9th Scott Rumrill is hosting a HUGE karaoke night at Copperfield’s, next to CrossFit Fenway.  Admission is $20, and all proceeds go to Scott’s fundraising effort for the American Liver Foundation.  The twist?  Sure, you can just do some good ol’ fashioned karaoke, or for a $5 donation you can pick a song and the person who sings it!  Immunity from being chosen to sing is available for an additional $10 donation at the door.  There will also be delicious barbecue courtesy of SoulFire.  If you can’t make it, but would still like to donate, Scott’s fundraising page is here.

I’m signed up for the Open! I’ve known I wanted to compete someday ever since I watched Brooke, Mary, Lauren, Adie, Sam, and James at Garage Games in September. Super glad I found such a wicked inclusive, and badass, sport!

Nice, Brennan! Really glad that you’re competing! It’s going to be a great weekend with so many from Fenway. Already ready for the SUMMAH and the SOX to come back.

And hey, way to stick with those box jumps this morning!

Row: 15+170 …great coaching from Sam on less knee drive out (I made this up) made a huge difference, less lower back pain

Apologies for mortifying the two new people in class. Jon Chin brought out my sass.

Past couple of WOD’s have been sweaty. Thanks Eric, keep ‘em coming!
