Good Fight, Good Night

October 21, 2012
By

Literally just got back from the New England Team Throwdown at CrossFit Milford.  I’m badly in need of a shower and some sleep.  Monday’s programming is below, and there will be updates on this competition, as well as the Master’s Competition that took place at CrossFit New England later in the week.

October 22, 2012
Strength/Skill:
Squat Clean 1-1-1-1-1-1-1
Clean Pull 3 x 3 @ best squat clean + 5kg

WOD:
3 Rounds:
10 Hang Power Cleans (135#/95#)
400m Run with Med Ball (20#/14#)

Judges Needed! CrossFit Southie is hosting the Garage Games New England Finals on November 10th and 11th and they need your help! There are 275 competitors throwing down for the weekend and it’s going to be an amazing event. In order to have it run smoothly they need 50+ judges. Even if you’ve never judged before they would love to have you, and they’ll teach you all you need to know.  If you’ve been CrossFitting for 3+ months, you can do the job! If interested, please sign up here.

Congratulations to everyone who competed this weekend!

Squat Clean – 120kg – definitely have more in me on this lift…ran out of time for the clean pull
WOD – 9:22 Rx – so awkward running with a med ball!

    Nice work 5:30

Squat Clean: 38kg – Still taking it easy after the marathon a week ago, and nursing a sore something-or-other in one leg.
WOD: 9:03 with 33kg HPC and #20 med ball. Felt good to run again.

Awesome job by all of the competitors this weekend!

Squat clean: 85kg (PR). Incorrectly added the weights when I completed the lift. Totally thought it was 75kg. Was stuck at 82kg with this lift for the longest time. Glad to get over that hump.

    WOD: 9:19 @55kg

    Great job 6am!

Congrats to everyone who competed this weekend! Can’t wait to hear more about it.

squat clean: 115#, failed at 120#.

WOD: 8:58 at 75#. Should’ve gone heavier, but glad to be able to move faster.

Nice job competitors! Can’t wait to hear the results!

SC: 75 kg – and it was ugly
    WOD: 9:26 @ 55 kg – should’ve gone Rx

On a side note, we decided to run towards the right and down Yawkey with the medballs to the original 800 m turn-around point (considering the loop is 600 m, and the 800 m turn-around is at 400 m, that leaves 200 m to go. Yawkey was a LOT less crowded, has wider sidewalks, and you don’t have to deal with “collision corner” at Sals. However, after the WOD, I measured the distance, and it was only 381 m… Going all the way to the corner is 426 m. So, somewhere in the middle is about right…I think it’s a better course for a 400 m run, frankly. Would love to get that marked on the sidewalk.

SC: 95 kg – This is a PR I’ve been trying to hit for months.

    WOD: 8:28 Rx

    SC: 70kg

    WOD: 8:40 @ 55kg (should’ve tried RX!)

  10. Ben S on October 22, 2012 at 8:23 pm

sc: 95 kg, pretty sure this is a PR. missed 96 2x
wod: 8:49, rx. yup, just another day chasing phipps…

one thing to note, reebok advertises their oly shoe as something you can run in. while, technically, this is true, it is not at all an enjoyable experience.
