Whole Lotta Runnin’

This Sunday, October 8th CrossFit Fenway has more than a baker’s dozen of athletes running the Boston Athletic Association Half Marathon (there may be more, and I know of a couple of available numbers if anyone’s interested).  They’re listed below for your online tracking convenience, or you can look for them in their brand new, bright green CrossFit Fenway Endurance shirts if you’re out around the course on Sunday.

Also representing CFF, but running twice as far out in the Windy City in the Chicago Marathon are Albert Mena and Meghan Teehan.

All of these athletes have used CrossFit as the backbone of their training.  I’m very excited to hear about their experiences, and to see how they perform.  Good luck runners.  I’m looking forward to a lot of PRs!

Judges Needed! CrossFit Southie is hosting the Garage Games New England Finals on November 10th and 11th and they need your help! There are 275 competitors throwing down for the weekend and it’s going to be an amazing event. In order to have it run smoothly they need 50+ judges. Even if you’ve never judged before they would love to have you, and they’ll teach you all you need to know.  If you’ve been CrossFitting for 3+ months, you can do the job! The Red Bandana Run is a 5k road race held as an annual tribute to Welles Remy Crowther, a 9/11 hero, and also benefits a charitable trust bearing his name.  The race takes place this year on Saturday, October 13th at Boston College.  Learn more about Welles’ story here, and register for the race here.

    Power Snatch: 44kg

    WOD: 5:30 Rx – best way to start any day is with some rope climbs.

    Looking forward to representing CFF on Sunday!

    PS – 20kg, starting to get the mechanics, I think.
    WOD – 8:11, with 2 rope climbs in first set and ground pull up thing-y’s for the rest.

    First rope climb(s) ever today! One for practice and 2 in WOD. Thanks Stacey & 6AM for the encouragement. Also, Tim looked awesome with his 5:30 Rx.

    Snatch 31kg – PB there for me
    WOD 11:15 3 rope climbs and then scaled the rest

    Hoping I might attempt the half on Sunday – if I do it will be the slowest HM i’ve every done! Calf is improving but not totally right yet. Still trying to decide what to do

    Hope its goes well for everyone else

    WOD: 6:15 rx

    love rope climbs now that my ankle doesn’t rip (wool socks, tape the ankle and use the J wrap).
