Quad Squad

August 27, 2012
By

My apologies in advance to your quads.  This is going to burn them more than it’s going to burn me.  Actually, while testing Tuesday’s workout I was somewhat surprised by which part ended up being the worst/least comfortable.  Come in Tuesday for the firsthand experience, and embrace your inner Quadzilla.

August 28, 2012
Strength:
Front Squat 4-4-4-4

WOD:

4 Rounds:
10 Dumbbell Push Press (25% – 30% bodyweight per hand)
10 Box Jumps (24″/20″)
200′ Bear Crawl (4 x 25′ up & back)

Those bear crawls, YIKES. Much tougher than I first thought and probably one of the least graceful CrossFit movements. Way to power through 6am!

Front Squat: 60kg, went pretty fast!

    WOD: 12:31 @ 30 lb dumbbells

I don’t want to talk about the bearcrawls or how I counted wrong. Made up for it in the last round though. I just wanted to feel what it would be like to finish with Fitzy!

Great warm up, Eri Lynne! And great class!

      *bear crawls.

Can’t work in educational publishing and spell wrong. Math, however, is a different story.

Front Squat: 77kg (PR on 4×4)

    WOD: 11:30 (@ 35#)

    So. Many. Bear crawls…RAWR

    Front Squat: 80kg – PR 4×4

WOD: 17:08 – Still have pain when push pressing, switched up to dumbbell cleans.

Let me tell you about bear crawls. Looks easy but at 200′ x 4 it burned me out. Was not expecting that this morning but it was FUN!

FS: 55kg x 4, 60kg x 3 — front squat remains to be my least favorite thing ever. inside and outside of crossfit.

WOD: 10:40rx @ 30# DB — thanks schmerika for the bear crawl advice

  6. Shawn on August 28, 2012 at 11:36 am

60KG front squat – worked on form, thanks to Erika for pointing out a major flaw.

    WOD: 19:06 @35# db

    Front Squat – 135kg

WOD – 14:59 Rx Holy crap! I couldn’t even do the first bear crawl after those front squats! This was an unexpected (though warned) melt down during a WOD. Now I’m off to fret more about the Garage Game WODs… http://crossfitnewengland.com/2012/08/27/garage-games-events-2/

Front squat: 50 kg, 2 at 55 kg. I have a lot to work on with form, but thanks to Sam I have some tips on how tackle it.

WOD: 19:03? Bear crawl sucks and I ate too many munchkins today…

FS: 105kg, Did 115 but wasn’t getting depth.
    WOD: 13:44 Rx – 50# DB’s
    Bear Crawls were crazy tough.

    fast 6pm class!

  11. Alissa on August 28, 2012 at 8:06 pm

    Front Squat 45kg

WOD: 15:37 – 25lbs DBs. Holy cow, bear crawls are no joke. I think I tried every way Mandy suggested and was struggling regardless.

  12. Caroline C. on August 28, 2012 at 8:48 pm

FS: 45kg – wasn’t feeling well today so kept it light, but my previous 4-rep max is 48 so I’ll take that for an off day.

WOD: 13:14 – bear crawls are not a problem for me. I think I was some sort of demented animal in a previous life – the things I do best are rope climbs and bear crawls o_O Weird … just … weird.

Sam wouldn’t let me hop around like Gollum though. Probably for the best, cuz even though it was funny, it was a lot harder!

  13. Alberto on August 29, 2012 at 1:12 pm

    FS: 100kg
    WOD: 10:56 @ 40# DB

    Good job 6:30!
