As my time controlling the blog is coming to a close today I thought I’d end it with a BANG. I hereby throw down the gauntlet of “The Butt Test” to any and all members willing to give it a try.
**Note: This is not something I made up. It is REAL. Again Faster even did a video of it for CrossFit HQ, watch it here.
Rules/Regulations: Technically speaking, the butt test is a simple way of measuring the Gluteus Maximus muscles on any given athlete (how big your booty is).
THE PREPARATION: Have test subject lie on the ground, face down.
THE TEST: Load a barbell with standard size bumper plates and roll said barbell over the athlete being tested.
THE VERDICT: Check to see if the barbell makes contact with the glutes.
If it makes contact with the glutes – CONGRATULATIONS! You have passed the butt test.
If it does not make contact and rolls over your derriere – I’m sorry, please try again later. Your immediate diagnosis is SQUAT MORE.
If it stops the barbell completely (for an example of this please ask Sam Horenstein to demo) – You pass with flying colors and are inducted into the official Fanny Hall of Fame. Celebrate accordingly with more squats.

A little junk in the trunk is a wonderful thing. My new goal is to get a butt like Sam’s, although I did make contact with the barbell! I will always continue to look like Joe regardless.
Snatch: 37 kilos…had some trouble with this one. Could it be that I ate Sam’s birthday present the night before? Perhaps. Some days you have it; some days you don’t, but I showed up and had fun working out with Shorty and Dan.

Snatch: 37kg…would have never tried if I didn’t see it on the board next to Brooke’s name. It’s a little over my 1 rep max so I’m pleased! Also thanks to Sam for the snatching technique help and for demo-ing the butt test for the 9am class. He and I both pass.

Hi all!! I miss you guys!!
I go see the surgeon in a few hours to assess how bad my knee is, but I have been trying to keep my core/upper body strength up by hitting the Northeastern gym periodically. This is not fun. They do not allow Olympic lifting. Or real pull-up bars apparently. It’s awkward.
Anyway, they have really small plates, so I’m pretty sure using those, my calves would be inducted in the Fanny Hall of Fame. Regardless, I’ve always known I could be president of that group. :)
How did Mandy coach the 11:30 class and NOT administer the butt test!?! I may have to swing back by the gym later to settle this matter.
Snatch – 60kg probably shouldn’t have jumped straight to 80 after that…ended up just starting my snatch pulls early!
WOD – 10:05 Rx. Switching my grip up between the T2Bs and pull-ups helped quite a bit.
i was going to work it into part of the warm up but you guys were all so quiet all clASS i wasn’t sure everyone would be up to it. i hope you can accept my compASSionate apology…next time: BUTT TEST.

Power snatch: 30 kg, kept it light and didn’t do the snatch pull since I found out I have a bruised rotator cuff.
