Sunday was another great day for CrossFit Fenway, as we had 5 teams representing us (Shayna Darnell & Scott Rumrill, Cal Sheedy & James “Shorty” Schortemeyer, Mandy Brown & Edmund Montanari, Daisy Robinton & Kyle Eriks, and Adie “80″ Sprague & James Higgins) in a field of 27 at the 2012 Evolution Games, hosted by AE CrossFit. Our teams snatched, squatted, and pushed plates, delivering some outstanding efforts.
It was so good to see everyone working together, supporting each other throughout the competition, and I’m very proud of all of our teams.
Of course, it’s also nice to have a team place on the podium. Adie and James finished 4th, 4th, and 3rd in the first 3 events, winning their heats in the 2nd and 3rd events in impressive, come-from-behind fashion. Only 4 teams could qualify for the final event. Adie and James sat in 3rd, and at that point it was any team’s title for the taking. The lead changed hands several times throughout the final chipper that included rope ascents, toes-to-bar, power cleans, wall ball, and med ball sprints. It was a fight to the finish. In the end Adie and James held onto 3rd place, and took home a $300 prize. Pretty good pay for a day of exercising.

It was a great experience this weekend. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported all of the teams. Team competitions are a great way for those reluctant to compete to try it out. Hope to see more of you out there next time!
I was going to take today completely off, but couldn’t resist the rope climbs.

i agree with my teammate! many congrats to everyone, and to james and 80 for a podium finish!
i’d also like to point out that scott rumrill, who hasn’t had pull ups for all that long, rocked out a whole bunch of them with a weight vest on. nice work!
Thanks Cal! I was shocked myself! You two did awesome too! Can’t wait to compete with you both again real soon.

This WOD felt so badass. I also achieved my June goal (not on the board) of doing 5 kipping pull-ups in a row (several times), so I guess … readjust time?
Hardly a day goes by that I’m not glad I found CFF! You guys are all awesome ^_^
