Motivation is a tricky thing with our workouts. It comes and goes in waves depending on any number of factors. Is it cold out? Did you get enough sleep? Are you mentally in the game today? How sore is your body now? I know when I’m looking for motivation and really need to dig for it, first I take a nap. Nap complete. Onto the next necessary ingredient for pump up; music. You all have your own preferences and favorite songs to listen to before, during, and maybe even after a workout. Sometimes it even determines your levels of motivation and how fast you actually move. The coaches would like to hear what song/bands/artists motivate you when you’re faced with the task to do a certain amount of work as fast as you can. Sometimes the best moments coming here are the 10 seconds before the workout starts and all you here is a couple of loud notes as you’re staring the WOD right in the face. Maybe it’s when you come out of your own head in the
middle and hear your favorite part of a song that actually pushes you to move again, faster. No matter what it is, we want to know about it so maybe next time you hear 3..2..1…GO!, you also hear your jams.

Who Wants Wrist Wraps?! Several of you have asked the coaches about wrist wraps, or even borrowed a pair. I like them for near-max overhead lifts, and metcons with a lot of work overhead. If you’re interested in ordering a pair for yourself, or would like more information please contact Eric by Friday, February 10th.
Schedule Update: Beginning Saturday, February 18th, Invasions will be shifted an hour earlier to 9 AM and 11 AM.

“Black and Yellow” always pumps me up for some reason. Probably because it used to be played daily (okay, hourly…), and I just associate it with crushing a WOD.
Plus Pittsburgh is in my favorite state.
I second this.
Bring it back! (Please)
Kanye West / Jay-Z – No Church in the Wild.
DL – 140kg (145kg x 2) – matched old PRs
WOD – 10:55 (ring rows for pullups due to bad shoulder)
Nicki Minaj & Drake — Moment 4 Life
Lady Gaga — Marry the Night
Kanye & Rihanna — ALL OF THE LIGHTS
Pretty much anything on Jay-Z’s Blueprint III album
…I will bring a playlist ASAP, it takes me back to my mixtape days.
DL — 100kg, UGLY in a cat-back way
WOD — 10:12Rx, likely with an extra 10 air squats just in case
Kanye & Rihanna ALL DAY!!! Love that jam! I’d also add:
50 Cent – Down on Me
Kardinal Offishall – Smash the Club (totally dumb artist name, but the song gets you moving)
Kelly Rowland – Commander
La Roux – Bulletproof
Like a G6 (I don’t know the artist)
Lil Wayne – 6 Foot 7
David Guetta – Memories
and our usual LMFAO (shots, party rock, sexy and I know it, etc….)

I also hold the top fish game score for the day (so far) – 1500. Challenge to you evening folks to beat that! I <3 video games!
Yikes, my form looks terrible in that picture! Definitely need to work on rowing…
My vote is for classic hip-hop! Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash, Cypress Hill, Arrested Development, LL Cool J, Tribe, Public Enemy, etc!
yes!!!
“Public Enemy Radio” is an internet station available through iTunes. That is what I personally have on when doing my heavy lifting @ CFSV in the mornings… maybe I’ll use it for the class WODs tomorrow!
yep, yep, yep (head nodding vigorously)
For those of you with spotify :http://open.spotify.com/user/corycavin/playlist/4fJvoT2mz5cpxYAMpUEtTg

Wow. Looking forward to checking out all these tunes. Long Post for me today. When I’m not working or working out, I’m usually listening to music. Figured I’d share with all of you. Turn. It. Up.
Metal
When I first started working out I was all about heavy metal. I know it’s not for everyone. My older brother is the lead singer of a thrash metal band called Unearth, so that helped me acquire the taste for it. Plus having your brother scream at you during workouts is something that not too many people have the luxury of enjoying. Here are three of my favorites.
Unearth – Endless: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqjkBqvDq6U
Lamb of God – Ruin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFm9v0wvEnw&ob=av2e
Sick of It All – Take the Night Off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzAEzF__FIM
Heavy Electronica
This is my new favorite type of workout music. I’ve been hearing Skrillex around the box lately, and enjoyed some Daft Punk earlier today. This stuff is great to WOD too because of the heavy bass and breaks. The repetitiveness also helps me to concentrate on the work in front of me.
Major Lazer – Pon De Floor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxD_7S7bl8k
deadmau5 – Some Chords: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEQMkzjcLEA&ob=av2n
Sleigh Bells – Riot Rhythm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8h-HnjaSrz8
Sleigh Bells – Comeback Kid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiwcUdX7XMw&ob=av2n
Rap/Hip Hop
This is where my collection lacks the most, but here are a couple favorites.
Jay-Z and Danger Mouse – Encore: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbXLp2z6xL4
Busta Rhymes – Touch It: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNSxVaqp-8w&ob=av2e
Always look for new stuff!
I think new songs keep the workouts fresh and help to prevent boredom. Here’s something I discovered last week. It’s an unreleased track from an upcoming artist. Yes, unreleased, but we all know there are ways of getting what we want.
Azealia Banks – Bambi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQQeOoNrqDs
Coming Soon: Skrillex and dubstep playlist…womp womp
> implying that skrillex is dubstep
GB2/mu/
(Just kidding. I would <3 a good dubstep mix.)
DL – 152kg
WOD: 8:01 Rx
