CrossFit Fenway is off to a great start in 2012. Our first ever Performance Based Paleo Challenge is underway, we’ve got a new home being built out, new coaches are stepping up, our community’s growing, the Open’s on its way, and we’ve got athletes PR’ing all over the place. All of this awesome has lead to an excellent challenge for the CFF staff to face: our classes are packed.
So what are we doing about it? First, we’re adding a coach, Mandy Brown. Mandy’s been working hard, preparing to get into the coaching mix. In addition to her CrossFit certification, Mandy is also a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach. Mandy’s enthusiasm, work ethic, and attention to detail make her an outstanding addition to the team.
Adding a coach allows us to add classes. We’re starting with another midday class at 12 PM Monday through Thursday, and an Olympic Weightlifting class Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 6:30 PM, with more to come. The Olympic Weightlifting class is dedicated to working on the Olympic lifts, the snatch and the clean & jerk, with an emphasis on drills and technique. It is included as part of your membership here at CrossFit Fenway, and athletes of all abilities are invited to participate.
As we’re expanding capacity, we’re simultaneously working with our vendor to make the class registration process as user friendly as possible. On the subject of our online scheduling system, please be courteous to our community, and cancel reservations you’ve made for classes that you won’t be able to attend. Being a no-show to a class doesn’t just mean you missed the class, but it also means someone else didn’t have the opportunity to take your place.
Everything’s coming up CrossFit Fenway right now, and we’re excited to keep it rolling. 2012 is shaping up to be another big year.

Who Wants Wrist Wraps?! Several of you have asked the coaches about wrist wraps, or even borrowed a pair. I like them for near-max overhead lifts, and metcons with a lot of work overhead. If you’re interested in ordering a pair for yourself, or would like more information please contact Eric by Friday, February 10th.

Yay Mandy!
Seconded!
Welcome Coach Mandy (with a ‘y,’ not an ‘i’)!
PC — 47kg
WOD — 11:30 @ 40kg
Realizing I can HPC 40kg for reps (however slowly) helped cement the universal observation of our full coaching staff that I just rip the bar off the ground on the PC. Another bad habit to slay.
Happy Monday (and Paleo Challenge Day #8)!
Congrats, Mandy!
I love power cleans.
PC: 67kg, PR by 2
WOD: 10:09 rx. This was a grip strengthener for sure.
Congratulations Mandy!
PC – 100kg
WOD – 8:53 Rx – tough to hold onto the bar towards the end of the hang power cleans!
Nice work Mandy!
PC – 65kg – definitely could’ve done more, but I have some form issues to work out. Thank goodness for the oly lifting sessions this week!
WOD – 9:14 @50kg & knee tucks instead of toes-to-bar
65kg PC – tied my pr
12:09 WOD 45kg and knees to anything
This was a good wod to work on ‘callus formation’!
I can’t quite find the words…

PC: 70kg
Modified ‘Bad Back’ WOD: 11:02 (subbed 50kg push press for HPC)
PC: 43kg
WOD: 11:41 (I think..) @30kg…happy generally with the T to B…my hands feel tired!
Nothing says Happy Monday like a ton of hang power cleans and toes 2 bar! Went light to work on form and it helped – the PC were a bit “derp derp” when I started @_@
PC: 37kg PR
WOD: 10:19 @ 45# and T2B
Squat Clean: 90kg
WOD: 7:39Rx
killed it!
MANDYYYYYYYY
Mandy’s been doing a great job with the afternoon classes!
PC: 90 kg (Matches my Squat Clean PR)
WOD: 11:17 Rx.
Had trouble loosening up my back today. Think this may be an uphill battle.
Power Clean: 75kg. Matches a PR, but this rep was with extremely better form.
WOD: 11:27 @55kg. Grip smoker for sure. Lost my rhythm on T2B faster than I would have liked. Keep up the awesome work Mandy!
YAY Mandy!! Can’t wait to take your class :)
PC: 57kg, PR
WOD: 9:17 @ 40kg
THANKS YOU GUYS. I wouldn’t want to coach anywhere but here with you guys. Your support means the world to me and when I make you do five zillion burpees I’ll feel kind of bad(ish). Now I’ll just finish up with this pesky “college” thing so you all can listen to my Tech N9ne playlist non-stop. :)
PC: 95 KG
WOD: 9:56 RX
clean: 90kg, I think a PR
WOD: 8:14 RX
struggled more with the toes to bar than the power cleans, which was a little surprising. great 6pm class, and congratulations Mandy!
