…And Then There Were 8

August 4, 2010
By

With a little good ol’ fashioned elbow grease, a lot of sweat, and a fair amount of cursing, our new rowers are operational.  Now it’s time to put them to use.  After you pull that big, heavy single on the deads Thursday, it’s onto the erg for another kind of pulling and a 2K.  Rowing 2,000 meters is about the equivalent of running a mile.  You obviously don’t want to come flying out of the gate at a full out sprint, but a reasonably quick pace can and should be maintained.  Let’s break in the new toys with some fast times.

Fight Gone Bad has raised more than $2 million in its first four editions.  This year LIVESTRONG, Wounded Warrior Project, and the CrossFit Foundation are benefiting from the fundraising efforts.  On Saturday, September 25th we’ll be running our heats.  Justin Shaughnessy has raised $1,600 to date, ranking him in a tie for first among all fundraisers! CrossFit Fenway has raised a combined $2,085, placing us 6th among all affiliates.  Register today, and join the fight as part of the CrossFit Fenway team.

If you haven’t already, please let Eric know if you’re registered to run in the BAA Half Marathon, so we can coordinate leading up to race day.

No parking during evening classes Thursday, as the Sox wrap up their home series with the Tribe.

Justin, still a great DL! and awesome time on the row! I could’t even come close to a 7min pace even on the first 500m!

      DL: 170kg – definitely my 1RM – just about blacked out….
Row: 9:15.5 – ran out of gas around the 1000m mark – was around an 8min pace until then….

Strong work, Justin. Sorry for not keeping up on the top sets and slowing us down by changing the weights.
