Our friends at CrossFit Boston are hosting a Whole9 Nutrition Workshop on Saturday, July 31st.  Register and join them for a practical, straightforward, interactive discussion on the important role nutrition plays in your overall health and fitness.

Nathan Jokel has volunteered to help with our coordination for the Spartan Race, taking place Saturday, August 28th at Amesbury Sports Park.  The event benefits the Home Base Program, and the cost of registration goes up again after August 8th.  Please contact Nathan if you’re interested in joining a team from CrossFit Fenway for the race.

Please let Eric know if you’re registered to run in the BAA Half Marathon, so we can coordinate leading up to race day.

The Red Sox are out of town, but the Cape Cod League All-Star game is being held at Fenway Park Wednesday night, so there’s no parking available during the evening classes.

        Eric,
You had mentioned there would be different categories for this event? I noticed it said that there will be no scaling, but I would still love to try and work my way up to this.

Generally there are scaling options at throwdowns, but it looks like they’ve decided not to offer any for this one.

I say go for it. The lack of scaling could pose a problem for me too, depending on the movement, but that’s a possibility in any competition.

Competition provides a goal to work towards and prepare for.

We’re shaping up to have great CFF representation at the Spartan Race! So far we have 7 definites and a handful of maybes, with a good mix of guys and girls. We’ll be able to field at least two 4-person CFF teams. This promises to be a fun event to benefit a good cause. Drop me a note soon if you’re interested or have any questions. We’ll organize the teams next week, so we can register our teams by 8/8.

any idea what time the event wraps up? I have a wedding to go to that day in Haverhill, but might be able to fit in both….

According to the site, “There will be heats of 250 racers every 30 minutes starting at 10am.” I checked the registration page, and all of the morning heats are already full, leaving 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 2:30 pm, and 3:00 pm.

All the more reason for us to get organized quickly and register our teams, before they run out of space!

Also – I just got confirmation from the event organizers that teamwork is allowed in traversing the obstacles. We’ll be able to help each other with the wall climb etc…

I’m in for this but a little scared! Anyone know where I can practice a wall climb? :)

FS: 45kg (gotta work on my wrists); failed the 50…God that was awful.

WOD: 6 rounds…I got into a handstand- does that count for anything?
(1 AbMat, 1-1.5 red for dips, 2 red for pull-ups)

The shoulder’s starting to realize I’m going to force it to move. The first 4 or 5 of each round of pull-ups felt pretty good, so I guess that’s progress!

    FS: 52kg
WOD: 7 rounds with much scaling. Hoping to move to 1 abmat HSPUs soon!

FS: 60kg (not fail, so I might have a little more in me)

WOD: First time doing ring dips! Woo-Hoo. 3 rounds.

Ring Dips: A little disappointed started out with purple, then went down to green. :0 I lost a lot of time trying to get INTO the ring dips. Something to definitely work on!
    Box HSPU.
Pull-ups: My pull-ups have improved and have gone to one band- purple-….so I am WAY siked about that, plus that I can get into it band without assistance. I think I want to try Reds.. but I’m a little scared. We shall see…..
