In CrossFit we measure progress towards improved fitness with scores in workouts. We’re always striving to move more weight, do more reps, or go faster. All the data we record is observable, measurable progress. At the same time we may also notice progress in ourselves that is less apparent in the numbers. There is a mental element to our fitness that we are also improving. Rising to the challenge of a tough workout, and pushing through even when the body wants to quit makes us stronger mentally. A lot of wonderful things have already been said about this past weekend, and I’m very grateful to everyone who supported our efforts. I’m very proud of Erica’s performance, she showed a lot of mental toughness. I’m also proud of myself, I pushed harder than I thought was possible. Next year I’m sure we’ll see more athletes from CrossFit Fenway competing, posting similarly impressive performances from both a statistical standpoint, as well as from the determination on display.
Speaking of progress, we’ve seen a lot of you improving your technique with the Olympic lifts. Tomorrow we’re working on the clean and jerk. Power clean or squat clean if you need to drop down to move a larger load, and then jerk the bar overhead. Really go for it, and let’s see if we can put it all together for some big lifts.
